I am Rachel Schillero. I have had bad teeth since I can remember. I grew up in unstable home then was placed in foster care where they did not take me to the dentist. I got out of foster care at the age of 16 and have been working ever since. I couldn’t afford insurance, there for the last 10 years of my life I have been going through pain and can barley eat with my teeth.
I still need my wisdom teeth pulled, I need 3 implants at least, and need a few root canals. I’m 26 now and my little brother has cancer so I work 6 to 7 days a week to make sure my family has money so we can all go visit him through his long battle fighting cancer. Also my money goes to gas and food for him and my mom while they are in Los Angeles at children’s hospital.
I haven’t been able to come up with the $30,000 it’s going to cost to fix my own pain and teeth. I’m a hairdresser and a make-up artist and I’m constantly close to people’s faces and know that my breath smells horrible from the rotting holes I have in my mouth. Not to mention the foul taste I taste every day.
I have tried to get help everywhere and every way I possibly can, then stumbled upon this. I know there are people out there that have it worst off them me but this would mean the world to me and make it a lot less embarrassing to smile at my clients. Even if I’m not chosen I’m excited to see that their places that are more affordable. It should be a crime how expensive it is in the USA to get dental assistance. I have had the worst luck going to the cheaper clinics here in California.
They tried to take out a tooth and ended up messing up the tooth behind it plus stabbing me in the roof of my mouth 2x. I am terrified of the dentist, but I have also had such a bad infection my face was swelled up 3inches out and I couldn’t see out of my left eye. They said the infection from my tooth made it into my brain, any longer and I could have died. I would be so grateful to get help. It would be a blessing for me.
