Travel advisory Mexico from the US and Canada doesn’t necessarily mean that they ban Mexico and that it shouldn’t be visited but serves more of a reminder.

As you may know by now from our pages and from travel sites that you may have visited, Mexico is one of the most beautiful places you could visit and even though there are advisories that may alarm you, don’t be! We’ve been personally travelling to and from Mexico for the last 20 years and we still enjoy going here.

If not, Mexican Dental Vacation, shouldn’t have been established here in Sunny Mazatlan.

A travel Advisory Mexico isn’t bad and we don’t have anything against Mexico travel warnings from other countries but if you’re planning to have your dental vacation with us, allow us to help you understand travel advisories better.

As a parent, the heads of any state would only look after the benefit and safety of its citizens and things like travel advisory Mexico are one of those security measures that they put up to help guide its people so they’re safe throughout their travels.

Well, basically, these travel warnings “warn” you to be extra cautious when travelling and it isn’t only in Mexico, in fact even when you’re on your own country or neighborhood for that matter. If you’re not careful, you can be and attract danger anywhere you are.

Perhaps, it’s a no-brainer when your loved ones or parents tell you to always lock your car but it’s one of those things that we barely do, really.

So Mexico travel warnings serves as a reminder to what not and what to do when going to an adventure in Mexico because sometimes we tend to be so excited that we forget to keep our luggage and ourselves safe.

To quote US Department of State website, ” The Mexican government makes a considerable effort to protect U.S. citizens and other visitors to major tourist destinations.   Resort areas and tourist destinations in Mexico do not see the levels of drug-related violence and crime reported in the border region and in areas along major drug trafficking routes.  ”

Among the important safety recommendations of the US Government when travelling and staying in Mexico are as follows:

  • Notify Mexican Law Enforcers and the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City or the nearest U.S. Consulate from your location if you sense that you’re in danger of crime or kidnapping.
  • If travelling by land, make every attempt to travel during daylight and avoid driving on some roads known for criminal activities.
  • Stay in well-known tourist destinations and leave a copy of your itinerary to relatives and/or friends back in the U.S.
  • Cellphone coverage in some areas like the Copper Canyon is limited. *We provide our patients with a free cellphone with local lines during their whole stay. Contact us here to inquire how you can avail it.
  • Do not display money, jewellery, and any valuables that may provoke crime.

Driving and crossing US/Mexico borders is higly discouraged both by US and Canadian government.

The Canadian government’s main advice in their Advisory when it comes to travelling is to travel Mexico by air to avoid harm. We agree, it’s the safest and fastest means of transportation to Mexico and this advice is also applicable anywhere you’re coming from.

They also advice on providing copies of your itinerary, be aware of your surroundings, and to monitor local news. In line with this, we would also advice you not to go to “creepy places” and stay within popular tourist destinations.

As a general rule, the Canadian government advises its citizens against non-essential travels to US/Mexico border as these areas are known to post high level of danger, if unsure on where to go once you arrive Mexico.
